Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland, If she will make a statement on the impact of the climate change levy on manufacturing industry in Scotland. (Failed OPQ).

Answer: Mr. Brady: To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if she will make a statement on the impact of the climate change levy on manufacturing industry in Scotland. [155191] Mr. Foulkes: The climate change levy will raise an estimated £1 billion in its first year, all of which will be recycled back to business via a 0.3 per cent cut in employers' National Insurance contributions and £150 million of spending on energy efficiency. The Government expect the levy to be broadly neutral between services and manufacturing. Its impact on the manufacturing industry in Scotland will depend on a number of factors including the extent to which industry adopts more efficient energy management practices.
