Question: To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, what analysis his Department has undertaken on the impact of the slowdown in the world economy on tourism.

Answer: Mrs. Calton: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what analysis his Department has undertaken on the impact of the slow down in the world economy on tourism. [18047] Mr. Caborn: I have been asked to reply. In addition to world economic conditions, there are a number of factors currently affecting tourism, including the impact of foot and mouth disease and the 11 September terrorist attacks. It is as yet too early to conduct a detailed assessment of the impact of world economic conditions in isolation.
