- To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland, If she will make a statement on the Scottish shipbuilding industry.
- Answer
-
Mr. Sarwar: To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if she will make a statement on the Scottish shipbuilding industry. [150750] Mrs. Liddell: Shipbuilding in Scotland remains competitive. Orders for Landing Ships and First Class Type 45 destroyers for the Ministry of Defence and also orders for merchant ships for Stirling Shipping will all result in work for Clyde yards. Nevertheless, each year will have to continue to work hard to win orders. For my part, I will continue to do all I can to support shipbuilding on the Clyde.
