Question: To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, if he will list for each of the last 10 years the amount spent by Customs and Excise on drug enforcement for (a) the United Kingdom as a whole, (b) Scotland and (c) Wales. - Including figures.

Answer: Mr. Galbraith: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will list for each of the last 10 years the amount spent by Customs and Excise on drug enforcement for (a) the United Kingdom as a whole, (b) Scotland and (c) Wales. [111002] Mr. Timms: Customs and Excise's estimated expenditure on drugs enforcement for 1999-2000 is £209 million. Comparable figures for previous years are not available separately from overall expenditure on protection of society. Nor are separate figures available for Scotland and Wales.
