To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment, if he will ensure that paper and timber products purchased by his Department are independently certified by the Forest Stewardship Council as coming from a sustainable source; what steps he has taken to ensure that paper and timber products purchased by his Department come from a sustainable source. - Inc ref to 344 c357W, 14 February 2000.

Mr. Reed: To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment (1) if he will ensure that paper and timber products purchased by his Department are independently certified by the Forest Stewardship Council as coming from a sustainable source; [110189] (2) what steps he has taken to ensure that paper and timber products purchased by his Department come from a sustainable source. [110188] Mr. Wills: I refer to the reply given by my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions dated 14 February 2000, Official Report, column 357W. I can confirm that my Department's policy on green issues is modelled on that of DETR.
