Mr. Beith: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many (a) self-inflicted deaths, (b) incidents of self harm, (c) reported assaults of prisoners on other prisoners and (d) reported assaults of prisoners on members of staff took place in each young offenders institution and in total in (i) 1997-98 and (ii) 1998-99; and if he will make a statement.
