Mr. Hancock: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what security vetting is undertaken of staff employed by Building and Property Group Ltd. and their sub-contractors operating at his Department's establishments. [80044] Mr. Spellar: Security vetting of staff was the responsibility of BPD Ltd. until last year, when their List X status was removed. At HMNB Portsmouth, BPD Ltd. currently undertake the Basic Check procedure and may issue temporary passes, pending Counter Terrorist Check clearance being carried out by the Defence Vetting Agency.
