To ask the Secretary of State for Wales, What discussions he has had with First Secretary to discuss alternatives to sand and gravel extraction from the Bristol Channel. (Failed OPQ)

Mr. Edwards: To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what discussions he has had with the First Secretary to discuss alternatives to sand and gravel extraction from the Bristol channel. [76072] Peter Hain: Like my predecessor, I intend to have regular discussions with the First Minister about issues affecting Wales. I understand that it is primarily sand, which is extracted from the Bristol channel. This is currently the primary source of fine aggregates for the south-east Wales market. I know that the Assembly is looking at a range of options for satisfying this demand. Their objective is to find a long-term solution which is economically viable, as well as being environmentally acceptable.
