To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, how much was spent by his Department in 2001-02 on the research and development of new technology to detect and remove landmines.
Answer

Brian White: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how much was spent by his Department in 2001-02 on the research and development of new technology to detect and remove land mines. [69312] Dr. Moonie: The total expenditure on the research and development of new technology to detect and remove land mines was £9.7 million in the financial year 2001-02.
