Further to the Answer by Lord Whitty on 23 January 2003 (HL Deb. col. 879) regarding game licences, how licences for taking and dealing in game: (a) discourage poaching; (b) encourage compliance with close seasons for the conservation of quarry species; and (c) protect food safety. [HL 1371].
