Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what percentage of Iraqi munitions have been disposed of; and when the clearance will be completed. - Inc figures.

Answer: Richard Younger-Ross: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what percentage of Iraqi munitions have been disposed of; and when the clearance will be completed. [125700] Mr. Ingram: As of 27 July, the United Kingdom and Multi-National teams have destroyed 323,149 items of explosive ordnance, of which 211,550 were small arms ammunition. Non Government Organisations have recovered 180,353 items of explosive ordnance, of which 58,744 have so far been destroyed. The rest are in storage awaiting disposal. It is not possible to quantify the number of items cleared in terms of percentage. It is estimated that it will take between two and three years to completely clear the United Kingdom Area of Operations of explosive ordnance.
