Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to his Answer of 11th June, Official Report, column 911W, on HMS Sheffield, what the original cost of building HMS Sheffield was; what the cost of her refit was in 1996; what her annual operating cost has been; how much was raised by her sale to Chile; and if he will make a statement. - Includes ref to 4 February 2003, 399 c174W.

Negotiations concerning the disposal of Ministry of Defence surplus equipment are matters of commercial and customer confidentiality and I am therefore withholding details of the revenues received under Exemption 1 and 13 of the Code of Practice on Access to Government Information.
