Dr. Fox: To ask the Secretary of State for Health what definition he uses of the term protection of the public interest in paragraph 1.16 of "A Guide to NHS Foundation Trusts". [87828] Mr. Hutton: Protecting the public interest in this context refers to safeguards that will ensure the continued provision of essential public services and prevent distribution of the assets necessary for the continued provision of those services.
