Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, what definition she has used to assess vulnerable people in the context of proposals to ban cold calling or doorstep selling.

Answer: Tim Loughton: To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what definition she has used to assess vulnerable people in the context of proposals to ban cold calling or doorstep selling. [203215] Mr. Sutcliffe: No such definition has been used. The recent public consultation has been conducted as widely as possible but has included organisations representing sectors of the public often thought to be vulnerable in the context of cold calling and doorstep selling. The consultation did not put forward the option of an outright ban but invited views on a ban on cold calling to offer property services "with possible necessary exceptions".
