Jon Trickett: To ask the Deputy Prime Minister if he will make a statement on the number of children living in overcrowded housing in the UK. [198755] Keith Hill: The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister estimates on the basis of the "bedroom standard" used in the Survey of English Housing, that there were 770,000 children under 16 living in overcrowded households in England in 2003-04. That figure represented 8 per cent. of all children.
