Mr. Beggs: To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many students have been suspended from each of Northern Ireland's universities in each of the last five years; and how many have been suspended for anti- social behaviour that took place off-campus. [193668] Mr. Gardiner: Universities are independent, autonomous institutions responsible for their own policies and practices in relation to student discipline, where appropriate. The Department for Employment and Learning does not maintain statistics pertaining to student discipline as this lies within the locus of the Universities. Queen's University and The University of Ulster have provided statistics on suspensions within their Institutions. _________________________________________________________________________________________________.
