Answer

Hugh Robertson: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the initial report of the Volcker Inquiry into alleged corruption at the UN during the Oil for Food Programme in Iraq. [190923] Mr. Rammell: The first report of the United Nations independent high-level inquiry into allegations of corruption and mismanagement of the Oil for Food Programme was published on 9 August. The report provided background information on the Programme and the status of the inquiry, including its terms of reference and staffing details. It did not draw substantive conclusions. We look forward to the next report from the independent inquiry.
