Mrs. Curtis-Thomas: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the Government have assessed overseas sentencing guidelines to study the relationship between guidelines and prison capacity. [187246] Paul Goggins: In taking forward its work, the Sentencing Guidelines Council will be looking at experience of sentencing guidelines in other jurisdictions and, amongst other things, their effect on the prison populations.
