To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, if he will make a statement on demining operations in the buffer zone in Cyprus.
Answer

Mr. Dismore: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on de-mining operations in the buffer zone in Cyprus. [R] [185137] Mr. MacShane: The Government are supportive of efforts to address this important issue and in our contacts with the Government of the Republic of Cyprus and Turkish Cypriot authorities we have urged them to move forward. It should also be noted that the European Commission is funding a de-mining project in Cyprus. This project is drawing on UK expertise and is partly funded by a UK contribution.
