Answer

Mr. Kilfoyle: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence which private companies' services have been employed by his Department in Iraq; and how much has been paid to each. [175095] Mr. Ingram: We employ contractors to undertake a wide variety of tasks such as support of equipment, construction and removal of camps, catering and translation. They are contracted by a number of separate military commands including in theatre. A record of which private companies' services have been employed is not held centrally and could only be established at disproportionate cost; details of the respective contracts are commercial in confidence.
