Mr. Stephen O'Brien: To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many (a) individuals and (b) registered companies have applied for grants under the Clear Skies Initiative as a result of including solar power in their home design. [146119] Mr. Timms: The information is as follows: (a) Currently, 1,445 applications for solar hot water heating systems have been received and 1,368 have been accepted, with a total grant value of £684,000. (b) For community/not-for-profit organisations, 90 applications have been received and 67 projects have been offered grants totalling £955,766.02 for the installation of solar hot water heating systems.
