Proceeding contribution from Tony Blair (Labour) in the House of Commons on Monday, 20 June 2005. It occurred during Ministerial statement on European Council.
European Council
I can tell the hon. Gentleman exactly. In the latter part of the last Government, I am afraid that Britain was completely isolated in the European Union, but it is not isolated today. Britain has allies both on the nature of the reforms that we want to achieve and on the budget debate. If, as I assume, he is saying that we should have accepted that deal last Friday— Would the hon. Gentleman have accepted it or not? What my style is? It is the budget we are debating, not fashion.
