Proceeding contribution from Lord Bassam of Brighton (Labour) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 12 July 2005. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee of the Whole House (HL) on Charities Bill [HL].
Charities Bill [HL]
I can see that the noble Lord is in full flow, but I have heard enough. I am more than happy to say that while we had some objections to the amendment at the earlier stage, we were not entirely averse to the general spirit behind it. So in the interests of moving on we would be more than happy to take away his point and consider it. The current drafting does not quite achieve what the noble Lord is seeking, but that said, we see the good intention behind it. We are happy to work on the amendment so as to satisfy the noble Lord on this matter.
