Proceeding contribution from Lord Bach (Labour) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 26 October 2005. It occurred during Ministerial statement on Avian Flu.
Avian Flu
My Lords, I am sure that can be looked at on an international basis. This gives me a chance to correct a remark I made. I apologise to the House and to my noble friend Lord Campbell-Savours. If the bird coming from Portugal had been through the Portuguese system and the controls in that country as a member of the European Union, it would not have to go into quarantine in the normal way in the United Kingdom. If it came from a third country outside the European Union it would have to go through quarantine. I apologise to the House for having got that wrong.
