Court Martial Judgment

My Lords, the decision to bring the case was taken by the Army Prosecuting Authority. I say again that the judge, in making his judgment in this case, found that there was no criticism of the decision to bring it forward. In these circumstances, it is important for a case to be brought and for the witnesses then to be taken through the judicial process. In doing so in this case, it was clear that there were issues relating to the statements made by those witnesses and the way in which the investigation was undertaken. However, I shall say one more time that the judge, in reviewing all aspects of this case, came to the conclusion that it was right for the prosecution to be brought.
