Proceeding contribution from Lord Waddington (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 15 November 2005. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Identity Cards Bill.

Identity Cards Bill

The noble Lord, LordĀ Foulkes, perhaps rather rashly started his remarks by saying that this is a hugely popular proposal in the country. However, I think that on reflection he came round to agreeing with me that it certainly will not be hugely popular if individual citizens are required to pay hundreds of pounds for an identity card.
