Identity Cards Bill
Members of the Committee know that I am not in favour of identity cards because I have made that very clear in this House. I certainly believe that we should be strengthening the passport and I am happy about the development of that as a stronger means of identity. I am unhappy about the creation of an internal passport—the idea that as we move about in our daily lives we should be required and at times expected to prove our identity to authority.
