Proceeding contribution from Eric Forth (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 1 December 2005. It occurred during Debate on bill on Council Tax (New Valuation Lists for England) Bill.
Council Tax (New Valuation Lists for England) Bill
I am glad that my hon. Friend mentioned section 22B of the Local Government Finance Act, as I have a copy of that provision in my hand. As always, he and I are working in concert. As was said in an intervention, section 22B says that the listing officer"““must take such steps as are reasonably practicable in the time available””" to ensure that the list is accurately compiled. Such phraseology is worrying.
