Is my hon. Friend aware of the press release issued by the Crown Prosecution Service in January, which makes that plain by saying:"““Indeed we routinely refuse to prosecute those reacting in the heat of the moment to finding intruders within their homes. So householders who have killed burglars in this situation have not been prosecuted. Householders who have shot burglars have not been prosecuted. Householders who have stabbed burglars have not been prosecuted. Householders who have struck burglars on the head, fracturing their skulls, have not been prosecuted””?" One wonders what exactly Conservative Members would like householders to be allowed to do.
