Proceeding contribution from Lord Howell of Guildford (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Thursday, 8 December 2005. It occurred during Debate on UK Worldwide Interests.

UK Worldwide Interests

My Lords, I know it is tedious for your Lordships to go into detailed statistics but it is important to be clear about what is happening to the FCO budget. It appears from table 10 in appendix A of the FCO departmental report, 2004–05, that the FCO’s resource budget will peak in 2005–06 at £1,813 million and is set to drop off to £1,721 million in 2007–08, which is lower. I do not see how that squares with what the Minister is saying.
