Proceeding contribution from Lord Phillips of Sudbury (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 14 December 2005. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Identity Cards Bill.
Identity Cards Bill
I am sure that I speak on behalf of all noble Lords when I say that we pity the noble Baroness for being at the Dispatch Box for a third day running, dealing with heavy legislation. I forgive her, therefore, for the fact that her lucidity did not extend to the questions that I asked. But rather than labour the matter here, the best thing would be to have a conversation outside this place with her officials and to get to the bottom of exactly what the card can be used to verify and under what circumstances. I shall not labour the matter any further. I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. [Amendments Nos. 142 to 144 not moved.]
