Identity Cards Bill

The noble Lord may remember the example I gave of information that may already be in the possession of the Secretary of State in, for example, the immigration records. That would not have been provided for the purpose of the register, but, under Clause 11(1)(c), it would be something which was,"““otherwise available to the Secretary of State for being recorded about an individual in the Register””." It would enable the Home Office to look at its records and make sure that we have the right correlation between those two. That is why subsection (1)(c) is important.
