Identity Cards Bill

I do not want to prolong what is already a rather long speech, if I may say so, but I would like to put on record the doubt that I have that no one will be able to browse through the register. This is exactly what I suspected all along. The Government’s record over leaking is not immaculate. I believe that there will be much wider access to that register by people who have no right to know the contents, and the Government will be powerless to prevent that happening.
