Identity Cards Bill
Before my noble friend withdraws her amendment, the Minister effectively said that I had got it wrong and then gave a very interesting speech, but never actually explained why I had got it wrong. It seemed to me that I had got it absolutely right, and that the powers available to the Secretary of State would be almost unlimited. I am not suggesting that they will all be used in a wicked way. None the less, they are unlimited and will be available to future governments.
