Proceeding contribution from Lord Beith (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 12 January 2006. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Family Justice.

Family Justice

: We were quite surprised to find only one magistrates court judge—or stipendiary magistrate, as we would call them—engaged full-time on family work in the country. One or two more such appointments might help to deal with the situation in inner London.
