Proceeding contribution from Baroness Scotland of Asthal (Labour) in the House of Lords on Monday, 16 January 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill on Identity Cards Bill.
Identity Cards Bill
My Lords, I assure the noble Earl that those sorts of anxieties and concerns have been very much in the forefront of the thoughts of those who are looking at this system, because, as he rightly says, we have to be absolutely sure that we have taken every step that we conceivably can, in accordance with our current state of knowledge, to make sure that the system is as robust and as impregnable as we currently can make it. That will continue to be the position.
