Identity Cards Bill
moved Amendment No. 54B:"Page 8, leave out lines 14 to 16." The noble Baroness said: My Lords, this is a short and simple amendment which removes lines 14 to 16 of subsection (8) of Clause 8. This is to probe why the Government feel that these particular words are needed on the face of the Bill when it already appears to me to be covered by paragraph (b) which states that applications may be made by the Secretary of State or, in prescribed cases, to a designated documents authority. I beg to move.
