Proceeding contribution from Philip Hollobone (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 1 February 2006. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Urbanisation (Developing Countries).
Urbanisation (Developing Countries)
I congratulate the hon. Lady on securing the debate and on her excellent contribution. When the Houses of Parliament were built, London was the biggest city in the world. Now, in 2006, many cities around the world are far bigger. May I make a plea about utilities? This country has particular expertise in the delivery of water, electricity and gas systems. Would it be possible for the Government to make further efforts to encourage British utility companies to be involved in the provision of infrastructure in some of the poorest cities around the world?
