Proceeding contribution from Lord Richard (Labour) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 15 March 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill on Identity Cards Bill.
Identity Cards Bill
My Lords, with respect, I will not give way. I listened to the noble Lord in peace. He should subside for a time. I cannot imagine that the Conservatives, when they were in government, would conceivably have accepted a doctrine which in essence gives this House a veto over the decisions of the other House. It is not on. However you look at it, this House is nominated; this House is not elected; that House is elected.
