Proceeding contribution from Robert Flello (Labour) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 19 October 2005. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Private Sector (NHS).

Private Sector (NHS)

The hospice movement might be a private sector provider, but would my hon. Friend agree that we should consider with care the perversity that a private sector provider such as that mentioned by my hon. Friend the Member for North Durham (Mr. Jones) is getting money for old rope—although I would not, of course, use such an expression—whereas a hospice such as Treetops in my 19 Oct 2005 : Column 286WH constituency, which gets no funding from the NHS, loses out despite the fact that many think that its services should be funded through the NHS?
