Proceeding contribution from Lord Lucas (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 21 March 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Electoral Administration Bill.

Electoral Administration Bill

To pick up my noble friend’s point, all you have to do is lay down 100 quid to buy yourself a company: you are a company director and are then accorded all the protections that the law accords to a limited company. Fine, you may not be chosen to be the director of ICI, but, none the less, you take on all the privileges and responsibilities that go with that office, which are considerable.
