Proceeding contribution from Ian Liddell-Grainger (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 29 March 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill on Consumer Credit Bill 2005-06.
Consumer Credit Bill
The hon. Gentleman’s proposal has great merit. Perhaps the Minister will consider it and in due course table an amendment to that effect. He will have to revisit the subject when the OFT wants more powers. My next point is about citizens advice bureaux, to which people turn when they have problems. In their surgeries many hon. Members will have dealt with cases of people desperate to get out of debt as a result of irresponsible lending.
