Proceeding contribution from Lord Palmer (Crossbench) in the House of Lords on Monday, 24 April 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Health Bill.
Health Bill
The noble Baroness, Lady McIntosh, made an impassioned plea for this amendment at Second Reading. As a result, as I live in Scotland I tried to discover what had happened there within the theatrical world. Not surprisingly, all those involved in this sphere of the arts totally abhor the fact that there is a total ban in Scotland. This afternoon much has been said about the fact that we must learn from, and be in harmony with, Scotland and so on, but I very much hope that we can learn from the mistake that Scotland made, and that is why I fully support the amendment.
