Proceeding contribution from Lord Rosser (Labour) in the House of Lords on Monday, 24 April 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Health Bill.
Health Bill
I oppose the amendment and want to speak against it. It was moved with considerable eloquence and considerable feeling, but the reference to the staff employed in such clubs was relatively limited. There was a statement that they got on extremely well with the members but the reason for my opposing the amendment is that it seems to ignore the position of employees. I think it was said—I may have got the figure wrong—that the number of members ran into many millions.
