Health Bill

I have heard the arguments for the need for an exemption of private members’ clubs, but I do not find them totally convincing. We should be grateful to the Members of another place who had the courage to amend the original Bill, conscious of the risks to the health of staff in private members’ clubs. I am a member of two golf clubs and two London clubs and I have taken the opportunity to consult staff in each of those organisations about the provisions of the Bill. There were perhaps one or two minor exceptions but the great majority of the members of staff thought that it was crucial for their interests that this provision of the Bill as amended in another place should proceed.
