Proceeding contribution from Baroness Buscombe (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 2 May 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Bill [HL].

Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Bill [HL]

I am very pleased with the Minister’s response to my amendments. With regard to the code of practice, I accept that flexibility is good and right, but our concern is to ensure that there is consistency in decision making. The Minister has reassured me on that to some considerable degree. In relation to appeals on points of fact as well as law, I am pleased to hear that there is intensive consideration. We look forward to hearing the results prior to Report. We are pleased that the Minister has had some thoughts on the minimum barring period. My immediate reaction is that the Minister’s proposal is good and reassuring. I feel reassured on that, and in relation to Amendment No. 43. I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. [Amendment No. 24 not moved.]
