I thank the Minister for his full exposition of the thinking behind these clauses. I welcome in particular his commitment to an extensive consultation with the various interested parties and the subsequent regulations. It is unlikely that I shall return to the matter on Report. The Minister’s commitment to producing detailed regulations—in particular, regulations to cover how to intervene to ensure supervision—is very helpful. I should add that the problem of the blue and white pills would have been solved if the GP’s electronic prescription had arrived the day before. The pharmacist could then have checked it on the spot and the error would have been prevented, rather than someone having to read a paper prescription.
