Proceeding contribution from Earl Peel (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 23 May 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Animal Welfare Bill.
Animal Welfare Bill
I add my voice to this debate only to reiterate that this is a very difficult problem. I am reminded that my noble friend Lord Arran, whose father introduced the Badgers Bill into your Lordships’ House for the first time, tells me that he remembers occasions as a young man going into his parents’ room to find that there was a pair of terriers on the bed and a fox and a badger under the bed. The smell was unbelievable, but it demonstrates that even foxes and badgers can, at times, be semi-domesticated.
