Proceeding contribution from Duke of Montrose (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 23 May 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Animal Welfare Bill.
Animal Welfare Bill
Since we are discussing the question of cross-border problems, I can see that quite an interesting problem will arise on pointer and setter trials. In Britain, pointers and setters do not have their tails docked on the whole, but German pointers do. If they wish to run their dogs in trials that take place in both Scotland and England, I presume the owners will have to determine whether or not they should have the dogs’ tails docked.
