Proceeding contribution from Nicholas Winterton (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 25 May 2006. It occurred during Ministerial statement on Pensions Reform.
Pensions Reform
May I ask a direct question about the state second pension? There has already been a certain amount of publicity and comment in the broadsheets following leaks of the Secretary of State’s announcement today. Is it true that anyone earning more than a reasonable salary who is contributing to the state second pension, whether directly to the scheme run by the Government or to a private scheme if they have contracted out, will receive no benefit whatever from that contribution?
